Eschmann: Providing the first line of protection against viruses & bacteria
28th Apr 2021 in Dental, Animal Health, HealthcareEschmann explains how Novaerus air disinfection protects your practice
COVID-19 is a virus we shouldn’t underestimate. In recent months, the virus has mutated and a number of new variants are now in the UK. News reports tell us that some of these new variants such as the UK (or Kent), Brazilian, and South African strains in particular, are thought to have a much higher transmission rate, with some sources stating that they are 70% more infectious.
More recently yet another new strain, known as the Delta variant, has arrived from India. B.1.617 perfectly illustrates that the virus is continuing to evolve and adapt, remaining a threat that we need to defend against in every way possible.
One way to ensure that the air in your dental practice remains safe for staff and patients alike is to invest in a system that disinfects the air and that can effectively destroy viruses and other pathogens. Novaerus Air Disinfection systems from Eschmann are backed by scientific evidence and have been independently tested to reduce MS2 Bacteriophage, a commonly used surrogate for SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) by 99.99%.
These units use patented NanoStrike plasma technology that safely kills all airborne microorganisms on contact, providing first-line defence against viruses and bacteria. Plus, because these units don’t create any harmful by-products, they are safe for continuous 24/7 use, even around the most vulnerable people. Novaerus Air Disinfection units can be free standing or wall-mounted, so you can use them in any area of your practice with confidence.
Need for continued caution
It remains clear that ongoing defence against COVID’s new variants is essential. Although the vaccine programme is progressing admirably, and the rate of infections in the UK has dropped from its peak in early 2021, there were still 2,865 new cases reported yesterday (27-04-2021).
This helped fuel recognition that airborne transmission of the virus is still a primary concern. The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention recommend people to wear a disposable surgical mask underneath a cloth mask to block up to 90% of airborne virus particles.
It was once believed that airborne transmission played a relatively small part in transmitting the virus, but more recent research demonstrates that the virus thrives in aerosols produced by coughing, sneezing, shouting and singing, as well as dental procedures, and is even able to travel over distances of six feet.
This research also concluded that airborne transmission of COVID-19 could be exacerbated in enclosed spaces or where ventilation is poor. Novaerus Air Disinfection systems are clinically proven to provide clean, safe air under all such circumstances.
We cannot predict how COVID-19 will evolve in the future, but by investing in an air disinfection system that deactivates all airborne microorganisms you can stay safe against the new variants, as well as all other airborne threats.
